American Airlines’ New Low Fares Will Slash Passenger Perks

American Airlines announced last week that it would begin offering a cheaper Basic Economy fare, which eliminates some benefits travelers have come to expect – carry-on luggage, advance seat assignments and choice of seats. This follows a similar move by United Airlines in November, creating a new, less expensive fare class.

While lower fares might sound attractive, this fare comes with a lot of restrictions.
