Way back in the early ’90s, Andy appeared in a series of 10- and 15-second Japanese TV commercials with a Japanese pop star. This made him officially big in Japan. Or something. For a while, at least.
The commercials are for Tongari Corn, the Japanese equivalent of Bugles, those corn snacks you used to eat off your fingers when you were a kid. The third and fourth spots are called “reverse simultaneous translation,” with a Japanese pop star. The pop star’s describing himself, and Andy is describing the product.
